Access to certain websites blocked or restricted but accessible via data or VPN

I’m having an issue with the Amex website - similar to others in this thread, it will half-load but not completely, or show a page not found message. Also affects the app, and when making payments (e.g. the widget to put in the multifactor code also doesn’t load). Everything is fine when swtiching to mobile data.

Interestingly the various IP geofeed databases that have been posted here do show me in the UK, but I’m guessing Amex might get their data somewhere else.

Ebay is working, TikTok is not.

IP is 31.57.136.xxx

Thanks guys Im also in Iran * 57.138.110",

  • city:“Mashhad”,

  • region:“Razavi Khorasan”,

  • country:“IR”,

I cant also get to “Lastpass.com”. Which i use to store my passwords.

Thanks for sorting this.

We are aware of an ongoing issue where some IP addresses are incorrectly showing as being located in Iran. Our team is actively addressing this matter and collaborating closely with our GeoDB (Geolocation Database) providers to rectify the situation as quickly as possible.

Key Points:

  • The issue affects only a subset of IP addresses
  • We are in direct communication with GeoDB providers
  • A solution is being expedited to ensure accurate geolocation data

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this discrepancy. We will provide updates as soon as the geolocation data has been corrected.

Ha, interesting, explains why Amex is no longer working since being migrated. Bloody shambles Yayzi.

Its not acceptable tho, This shouldn’t be happening and should have been picked up on the test migrations.

Unfortunately with the billions and billions of websites that are in use. We can’t test all of them. We have various people test various websites and services. All came back fine. The issue was a database update from ipinfo it seems, show vastly incorrectly information.

Have emailed direct but just to add having been migrated to my new Iranian IP address. Geforce now isnt allowing me to access any of my games library…

Great testing guys…

The ranges were tested prior to going live. With all these services. No issues were reported. A database was updated and we’re fixing it, we’re also moving the old ranges to the new network. So please bear with us a day or so

Just so we’re clear. this whole process has been a badly managed, badly communicated disaster and I will be moving suppliers as soon as possible…

Is this problem anywhere near being sorted yet? Sorry to ask. But I’ve got my family on my case to get to the bottom of it all lol. Cheers.

Currently awaiting GeoDB providers to get their shit in order

But yeah very close now

Hello from Iran …
well that’s what https://ipinfo.io/ says
and by clicking on “show more IP info” on https://www.iplocation.net/ it switches from Fleetwood to Iran.
And yes I am on the 31.57.141.* subnet

Aside from the expected migration slowdown, download at half speed (at best) upload unaffected, brave browser ~150Mb update taking over 6 minutes to download and ping gone up to ~50ms even to yayzi seem to be able to login fine to ebay.

Unless I start having problems downloading from youtube using yt-dlp or accessing videos via freetube I’[m probably fine for now.

Why these Ip databases cant sync better I dont know.

I am in the same boat as others I guess, Iran IP address, loads of work resources I cannot access because of that etc, and slow speeds and latency because I presume of the upgrade, let’s hope will get sorted by tomorrow, luckily my plex and netflix are decent so can still enjoy my media dose. If Yayzi team are working tonight, can only wish them good luck!
