Internet has been off since 9:16am so how long are these short dropouts ? as its now 9:35
Thanks
My internet went off this morning for approx 17 minutes, between 8:03 and 8:20
Hello,
They shouldn’t be long at all. Have you tried the basics like rebooting the ONT and router etc?
Its back, I have gone from my static IP to a I assume DHCP 31.57…x.x
It is DHCP yeah, if you want to keep your static IP from pre migration please email [email protected].
Please not that you wont get this IP back until after the migration has finished.
Or you can keep this as your new static IP
@K3V1N I’m curious as to when did you join Yayzi? I thought it’s meant to be people who joined sooner that are getting migrated first
I think they said they were doing everyone today on the note, I joined 22nd Nov.
Kevin
That’s crazy I joined March. Have you been having issues?
No no issues at all, but if you read the announcement bit they said they were going to move everyone over over the next few days in one hit.
Yeah says from the 5th-11th. Has your ping etc improved?
I never setup BQM on the old core as its quite frankly not a reliable source due to peers etc. But you can see here it’s improved.
But you can see using my custom ELK that it’s improved:
Ping from Outside
Pings to DNS from Inside
so if my ping prior to the migration was/is around the 10/11 mark, am I expecting to see any improvements because quite frankly I cannot really see it being much better than that, although I am happy to be corrected haha
The ping is already very good, It may drop a bit, mine dropped by 1ms on average, but it’s the same as it was on the old network for me (depends on your area)
The major improvement is seen in the latency spikes
Some people have noticed it cut in half! But it all depends on the other end as well
well moving from VM and having 30/40 as an average what I have now is unbelievable and I cannot comprehend it being lower… might have to try playing CS:GO for the giggles haha
Try play around 6PM as that’s when most of the latency spikes were happening
Moved across from 217.XX to 31.XX, which was fine. Router disconnected for a bit (didn’t see the forum for a few days, so didn’t notice the announcement) so did a restart and kicked back in.
The issue I have is that one of the VPN’s used for work (OKTA) doesn’t work on the 31 range. I’ve sent an email to ask to be moved back to the old 217 range but clearly given the announcement, nothing is going to happen for the next few days/weeks. So for now having to tether through a phone. Not ideal for £50 a month!
Are you able to contact your work to put in an exception for your IP address?
They won’t be moving over the old network IP’s for 1 week minimum - migration is due to complete Dec 14th
We looked at ways to get this done as quickly and efficiently as possible, the limiting factor in all scenarios came down to the IP’s, we cant run the IP’s across both networks at the same time.
If you currently have a static IP, it will be temporarily unavailable during the migration. Once the migration is complete:
- If you’re happy to keep your new IP, there’s nothing more to do—you’re all set!
- If you’d like to return to your original IP, simply email us at [email protected]
I’ve gone from a
79.135.x.x
(static) IP to 31.57.x.x
, presumably due to the migration.
Will this 31.x.x.x become my new static IP, will it be/remain a dynamic IP or do I need to explicitly request a static IP back (once the migration completes)?
Sorry if I’ve completely misunderstood the first bullet point - just want to be 100% sure before I update my DNS settings to point at the new IP.
