Asus bq16 wifi 7

Hi

Just bought an ASUS BQ16 and using it on my BT FTTP package with no issues

City Fibre has just gone live and looking at a 2.5gb package from Yayzi but cant get a definate answer from anyone as to whether this router will work?

Has anyone used once and is it just the usual plug and play that you would expect from DHCP?

Getting mixed messages about VLAN tagging etc.

Thank you
Jim

Hey Jim

The ASUS ZenWiFi BQ16 does support VLAN tagging on the WAN interface, but the process to enable it isn’t very intuitive. Here’s a quick rundown on how to set it up:

  1. Access the Router’s Web Interface:
  • Connect your computer to the router via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
  • Open a web browser and enter the router’s IP address to access the web GUI.
  1. Set Up VLAN Tagging:
  • Go to Advanced Settings > LAN > IPTV.
  • In the Select ISP Profile dropdown, choose Manual Setting.
  • Enter the VLAN ID 911 in the Internet VID field.
  1. Save and Reboot:
  • Apply the settings and reboot your router to ensure the changes take effect.

Hey thats great. Thanks for taking the time to reply. That doesnt look too complicated. Looking forward to joining once my contracts up with BT and putting the router through its paces

The problem is the BQ range is the upgraded XT range and some of the XT range you weren’t able to VLAN Tag, Asus is also notorious for lacking in-depth setup specifications and share a manual with a whole range of products rather than a specific product.

Having a quick google, I think you may be UNABLE to Vlan the WAN, I hope im wrong, if you can go to the IPTV page like the picture above and it matches, then you should be alright.
