Asus TUF Ax6000 limiting upload

Good morning everyone,

I get symetrical 2.3gb to the router but to my pc i get 2.3gig download and 1.3gig upload. It seems like the router is limiting upload as its always 1.3upload no matter server. I used to get 2.3gig symmetrical to pc. What could be the cause?

Many thanks

Same router here. I’ve got the 2gb down and 1gb up service, but at the moment, I have this on the router’s speed test.

Just dropped in a support ticket to see if there’s something not right. I’m trying to upload a bunch of media and I just can’t do it right now :frowning:

Edit: Seems to be improving. My upload went from 4.5 hours to 22 minutes, so yay for that!

Oh my thats the soeed directly to the router. Thats bad.is 0.03 even powible

A few of us in the discord where talking about this, it seems there might be something off with the internal speed test, do you get the same speeds using web browser from a wired connection?

People using the stock Asus firmware seemed to be affected but web browser speeds were reported as showing correct.

This is my speed test on the AX6000 using Asuswrt-Merlin firmware.

Posts from 2 years ago saying the same thing.

Hmmm I see. So internal asus router shows 2.3gig symmetrical. On web broswer upload is reduced to 1.3. I can do a wifi speed test at the same time and the web browser upload is unaffected.

I get 1.3 gig from bowser and 800meg on wifi simultaneously.

I did recently have a router update. Maybe that caused the issue

So if the Asus speed test is reporting the correct speed then that’s the speed your getting to the router from the ONT to your WAN.

If the pc has reduced speeds there is so many things that can make this happen, cables, software, hardware the list can be endless.

The router doesn’t seems to be the problem as you are already getting 2.3 symmetrical to it, the problem lies after the router, a cable or possibly switch.

Are you using any 3rd party Antivirus or Firewall software? What operating system are you using? Is the PC up to date with all software and drivers?

Upon googling this it seems like a genuine issue with this router. Have you tried a factory reset and leave it on the stock firmware?

Also if you have made any changes in the router settings go back to the beginning and start again. It could possibly be that you have accidentally clicked something and that’s causing the issues. I know from Asus experience :joy:

windows 10. everything up to date. drivers up to date. Adapter showing link speed as 2.5gig upload and 2.5gig download. Router showing link speed to pc 2.5 gig symetrical. Wifi is also limited to 1334mbps on the dot, no more no less. The same speed the pc gets. Stock firmware, i even rolled back to the previous update and still the same issue. tried a factory rest, left the router unplugged for 30mins. I know asus can be so annoying, i had asus motherboard issues where it wouldnt post past bios because it had a usb cable plugged in that didnt have anything plugged into the end of it :joy: Its a new issue for me but it seems to be a router issue

Just out of curiosity can you try select QoS and then try a speed test to see what speeds you get?

Also in the pc adapter settings do you have full duplex set and not auto

I done both manual and auto qos, i also done bandwidth limiter and set them to 2500mbs. Still the same. Yes adapter is full duplex not auto. Its such an annoying quirk. I have no clue what else i can try. I removed the adapter and reinserted it, uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled :sob:

So this adaptor was previously working or is it new? Do you have another laptop or pc to try?

Yes adaptor was previously working. Both the router and adapter are 8 months old. I have no other cabled appliances. wifi is also capped at 1.3gig

Do you have the ability to wire directly to the ONT? Remember to set vlan 911 for the adapter, this will elimate whether it’s the router or connection itself.

Sorry, adapter as in its a ethernet controller into the pci slot on the motherboard

As they stated though the ASUS speed test shows proper speeds. So highly doubtful that’s issue.

Yea i worded wrong…doh… meant to eliminate the pc.

I dont see the router being the only capable issue, the pc is the only thing capable of 2.5Gb wired and WiFi simply isn’t good enough for a proper test.

Plugging the pc directly in the ont will eliminate the PC leaving only the router.

In cases like this it typically comes down to some software, either VPN, traffic optimisation software (QOS, etc) antivirus or even drivers being out of date.

Worth checking all software, also worth downloading the speedtest.net desktop app. It’s more accurate as it isn’t using the browser.
