Asus XD5 Mesh System

Hello everyone. I have an Asus XD5 mesh system and have been attempting to connect it to the router, but it doesn’t read it as a Mesh System and it tries to take over the job of the router whenever I connect it.

Any help massively appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the Community!

Are you trying to connect the Asus XD5 to the TP Link (provided by Yayzi)?

If so it might be worth just using the Asus XD5 Mesh as a router without the TP Link. As im not sure if the 2 companies will play nice with each other

I don’t think the XD5 has VLAN settings on it… so you’ll definitely need the Yayzi router in first
If you set the XD5 into Access Point mode, it should generate the wifi mesh, but still use the Yayzi router to do the whole routing side

Ah does it not, how annoying!

Might be worth checking anyhow just to be sure its not hidden in an advanced menu.

Totally agree… I saw Asus only mention a couple of bits of kit that do VLAN… but then a forum page talks about it on the XD5 (although I didn’t read it… could be LAN side…)

This link talks about setting up VLAN in generic terms:
https://www.asus.com/uk/support/faq/1034366/
If you have that option, you could remove your Yayzi router (depending on your internet speed/port speed on the XD5)

The problem is, I’m not sure how to set it up as an Access Point straight away, the only option on the app is to set it up as a router, with it’s own WiFi network and password.

I’ve googled the XD5 and says it can use vlans

Looking at the manual…

…so try from a browser into the XD5

To setup as AP mode

I tried… and for some reason google had a hissy fit and refused to load  Seems to have recovered though as it’s like losing an arm!
