Help with setting up AXE5400 additional router

Hi everyone, I am a relative noob when it comes to setting up networks so please go easy on me

I have just come to Yayzi from Virgin and with my old setup (and the fact that my virgin router was terrible at wifi) I purchased an additional router (AXE5400) and used the Virgin router in modem mode. I had hoped the router from Yayzi (Ex820v) would be far superior and possibly cut out the need for the additional router but apart from the living room where my router is located the speeds around the house are drastically lower and in particular my home office. I believe my AXE5400 could help if I were able to setup as I did with my previous ISP but I can’t see an option anywhere on the settings page to be able to switch the EX820v into modem mode and use the AXE5400 for all wifi traffic.

I have connected he AXE5400 via the WAN port on the EX820 and from there all other wired connections running through the AXE5400 but all wifi traffic is still going through the EX820…

I did ask Yayzi for support with this but was told they cannot provide help and I should ask in the forum, is anyone able to help me with this?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, welcome to the Forum

The AXE5400 should be able to run as the main router. Is there an option to setup a vLAN on the internet side? If so if you set this to 911 then you should be able to plug that in place of the Yayzi one.

Your best bet is to factory reset your tplink router. Then plug your ONT into the tplink’s wan port and turn it on.

Connect to the web interface and follow the setup instructions and set it all up from scratch.

The set up wizard should let you select a VLAN. This needs to be set to 911.

And thats it. It should just work. Then you can put away the router from Yayzi and have it as a spare.
