How to upgrade to 2.5gbe cheaply

Thats why I run Scrypted as the NVR. Cam is just doing the AI processing

But agree the web component that Hikvision uses that still relies on internet explorer is :poop:

As it turns out, since V4.82.100 build 240606 - it runs in HTML5, finally!

God forbid I’m a Mac user

I use the: DS-2CD2347G2-LSU/SL camera

It’s nice to not have to use a web components extension anymore
.

Likely won’t change them, tbh. Not yet anyway, not until I can justify the cost
. I do have a spare PC, so I may look into using that as an NVR first

Since upgrading my NVR to the version listed above, it has broken my homebridge intergration

Ordered 4 of the new PTZ UniFi Cameras!

The auto tracking mainly. I also wasn’t planning on buying the massive PTZ one lol

Yeah got 2 as they cancelled 2 as I wasn’t allowed to order 4 lol

Yeah they are very decent, tracking is very clean tbh

I can’t wait for the ONVIF support to come to Protect, I can hopefully unplug my Hikvision NVR then

They will just allow the hick vision Cameras to be plumbed into Protect directly. I haven’t actually tried doing it at the moment, so it could work now for all I know

2K 4MP i think

Have you had a look at the Annke camera’s - they are made by Hikvision and much cheaper usually. I have a bunch of their ‘NightChroma’ ones including 2 that are 4K.
Pretty impressive

For anyone interested, these are 5 years old, way out of date, but nearly every camera (except Axis, who design their own chips) has dahua / hikvision silicon.

Reolink are Raysharp
Other companies that I believe use their own chips are
Ubiquiti
Nest
Arlo
Cisco
I’m sure there is others.

Nice little switch coming

Definitely useful, unless you need POE for APs

too late for me, already ripped up the floorboards and run extra cat6 to drive my 2.5G devices  this would’ve saved a bunch of time (as I’m not keen on adding non-unifi devices to the network) but wouldn’t have been quite as fun

Hi @Rik I bought Annke H800. The only disappointment is the noise from HDD. I think it’s been a very long time I haven’t used HDD:) if it was SSD, it would be much quieter. I need to keep it in my living room due to set-up.

Hi @nexusmaniac
I love their quality. My only disappointment is that we have to use only their video cameras which is very costly.

Unifi protect is compatible with lots of 3rd party cameras now :ok_hand:

Partially compatible

Not fully, For example, I tried my hikvision cameras And didn’t get any lying crossing detection or motion detection, The two way audio did not work either
