I have an annoying issue where every couple days my TV loses connection to the router and it wont reconnect until the router is rebooted. When it happens sometimes im also unable to access 192.168.0.1 from my mobile even though its connected but access is fine from a desktop
I’ve put the TV on normal network and guest network, same issue.
The act of rebooting the router will disconnect all the devices and the router’s DHCP server will start handing out new IP addresses as the various devices reconnect (such as your TV).
First see if your TV is configurded to use DHCP or Manual in the network settings.
One possibility is that it is configured as manual but the IP address is already allocated to another device after the DHCP server comes up. The TV will then fail to connect due to an IP adress clash. In this situation I would suggest changing the IP address to a number higher than the range allocated by the DHCP server configred at te router.
If the TV netwroking is configured as DHCP I would recommend using “address reservation” at the router to map the TV’s MAC address to a fixed IP address within the DHCP range. Then each time the TV tries to connected it will be guarenteed to get the same IP address allocated. DHCP will then ensure that the TV’s IP address is never handed out to any other device.
This may not solve your connection problem but hopefully give you some ideas what to try.
I’ve got an LG tv connected via wifi, are you using the 5ghz band, if you are what channel is that band set to on the router? LG tv’s are fussy when it comes to 5ghz wifi, I’ve never had the tv disconnecting but the speed drops significantly when using higher channels, I’m using CH36 on the 5ghz band to get the best speed, could be a similar issue though & causing your tv to disconnect.
By default the tv should be set to use DHCP to obtain an ip address, certainly pays to bind the tv mac address to a fixed lap ip as Icarus mentions, I do that as a matter of course for all my connected devices.
I’ve reserved an IP for the tv so ill see if that helps. I’ve tried 2.4ghz and 5ghz and had the same issue but not specified a specific channel. Never had an issue with my virgin router though
Ok try this, check for a setting called quick start plus & disable it & restart the TV & see what happens as that quick i start setting can cause lots of issues, I had ti disable it on my LG tv.
Happened again this morning, turned TV on first thing, no issues, turned off for an hour, turned back on now its refusing to connect. Turned quick start+ off, TV off and on, took a couple minutes but was able to reconnect without rebooting the router at least
I am glad I am not the only one that’s noticed this happening on certain devices.
My Freesat 4K box does this and it can’t maintain a solid connection to the EX820v router.
Sometimes my Samsung TV will disconnect and it can’t seem to reconnect, but this doesn’t happen as often. All my other devices seem to work fine.
I previously used an Eero Pro system and had none of these issues with these same devices.
