I have 2 x EX820v Routers, is it possible to set one up as a mesh extender ?
No it’s not, you’d run into quite a few problems as well, such as two DHCP servers running etc…

What about Smart Mesh (Easymesh) is that available?
or is this a firmware issue.
Have you tried pressing the WPS button on the main router then the secondary router?
As far as I’m aware, that’s the easiest way to link 2 or more EasyMesh devices.
I haven’t tested it myself as I don’t have 2 routers but it is listed on the TP-Link site as a method for other brand routers.
