Migration - Why, who asked for it, when will it end?

@Morganr is this you :joy::joy:

I have to say I’d love to have you guys as customers, literally do anything to us, we won’t complain. It’s astonishing…

It’s literally been explained more times than once. It doesn’t need to be repeated on the forum. I have issues also with my connection like many others but it’s just a waiting game unfortunately.

So none of my three questions have been answered.
Yayzi have given a number of answers on peak shaping. They’ve said it will be on until migration is finsihed and also said it will be on for a few days
We’ve never been given an ETA for everyone being migrated, apart from a few weeks (which isnt good enough as Yayzi must know current plan).
Yayzi have previously said they are looking at an alternative option to do all migration in one night. Whats the progress on this.
You may not care, you may be happy to wait but as a customer Im not. Its not the service Im paying for so I want to know what progress is being made. Maybe Im the only customer who cares but tbh its none of your business.

We’re just awaiting a cable to go in currently, this will allow us test our plan for moving everyone over in one night as opposed to the extended timeline.

Once the cable is in (expected at the latest of 28th Nov, based on THN SLAs) we will then spend a couple of days testing and will be able to give a good solid date and time for the works to be completed. Until I have that date, I won’t be commenting further on a timeframe without having the information available to me.

Thats useful. So if we assume some time in Dec, does that mean peak shaping will be in place every evening until then…

Peak time shaping or not, I have not even seen any slow down in my connection at all.

Your gonna tell me your connection is so slow at peak times you cant use it? So what if its a little slower while the works go on.

Works have to be done. Sometimes that means connections will be down, slow or buggy form time to time.

You go on and on about it like your life would end if you have problems with your internet.

Make a cuppa, Chill out and just go about your day.

The only interruption to my connection since joining back in June was about 2 hours while a DHCP server upgrade was taking place.

I’m delighted for you

non of my business😂 I think you will find it is. The constant questions etc of customers like you are then forcing Yayzi to rush the job at hand which In turn could end up making bigger problems down the line. As @Nagasaki has said surely your connection can’t be that unusable. I know you’re paying for a service which isn’t 100% but hopefully it won’t be for much longer. It’s a waiting game for us all

Hello @Morganr

I understand your frustration here 100%. But this migration has to happen one way or another. Personally I would prefer to have 200mb internet over no internet for say 2 weeks while the migration happens.

I know it would be nice I get a time scale and I’m with you on that. But if we get a time scale and it gets missed then we will all be more annoyed. Yayzi tend to not give out dates as it’s not just them to is in control. For this migration there is so many parties at play here and trying to get them all to line up isn’t easy. Giving a date out would only make this situation worst.

Please bear with Yayzi as they are trying to make the service of legends. Once the migration is complete then by all means have a good vent.

In short I do sympathise with you but please give Yayzi time.

Just to clarify… I only post on here to get info from Yayzi as it seems the only way. Id rather do that one to one but cant. So in the nicest possible way Im not really interested in other people (who dont work for yayzi) telling me they are ok with it (this isnt the normal passive aggressive im not interested, I have no interest)… feel free to post if you want but…

I have to say I agree with Morganr here.

I left Virgin Media, who have no traffic shaping on their 1GB plans, only to be with yayzi for a few weeks and then THEY bring in traffic shaping, with no information on how long it’s going to last or even any kind of ETA.

Please don’t get me wrong, I do like yayzi and on top of that they’re the cheapest in the group of multi gig providers available on CF. I just don’t like this traffic shaping business, I thought I’d got away from that 10 years ago!

We’ve never had any form of traffic shaping or anything for over 4 years, this is purely temporary while the works are being completed. Once we have confirmation of the new cable we’re awaiting is in, we’ll do some testing and we’re fairly confident we can publish a solid timeline of completion.

Once completed there will again be absolutely no traffic shaping.

@Yayzi_Team more out of curiousity than anything else, can you tell me what was occuring between 11pm and 1:30am overnight please? Was this a precursor to the migration or could it have been something else?

Mole’s tunnelling through your green stuff?

What is the end timeline for these spikes that start every day just after 5pm and end at 1am??
