So I decided to move my Calix ONU into the garage. I installed two sections of this Singlemode SC/APC cable and joined them with this adapter.
I tested one section before installation, and it worked fine with the Calix ONU.
Unfortunately, once I moved the ONU into the garage, the broadband light no longer comes on, likely due to high attenuation.
I also have OM3 multimode cable running alongside the two sections of singlemode cable, and it works fine for LAN traffic, so I don’t think the environment is causing the issue.
I suspect that the installed CitiFibre cable’s LC connector has high attenuation because it was covered in a lot of brick dust. Additionally, the entire brown fiber box installation was poorly done, with misaligned holes, overtightened screws, and a heavily bent white fiber cable that I had to replace for troubleshooting.
I tried moving the ONU between the first and second sections of the fiber cable, but it didn’t work there either, despite the initial test being successful.
I checked both sections with a fault locator, and there were no issues detected.
Any suggestions on what can be done next? Is there a way to monitor the Rx/Tx signal strength from the Calix ONU?
