"Next Few Nights"

In Progress
Over the next few nights we will be working with CityFibre to add more capacity.

Can someone please quantify what “next few nights” entails, as the evening disruption feels like it’s been going on for quite a long time now. Basically post-kids bedtime internet is just not usable, and just as it starts working around 11:30 it’s time for bed for work the next day.

I’ve tried popping onto Discord to ask and there’s been similar questions from a couple of other users too but no answer.

Hmm, even with these maintenance I’ve never had any outages/unusable internet. There might be something further happening on your line.

What issues are you having? I’m on 141 and not seeing anything that is disrupting services.

Packet loss and ping spikes, occasionally complete drops (never more than 10-15 seconds, but sometimes multiple per maintenance window).

If I’m watching twitch while playing then both the stream and the game will stutter or drop. Discord cuts out or suffers a quality drop. Websites will be slow to open or unresponsive. The wife’s Tv will cut out etc.

This is just during the evening upgrade window. Rest of the day it’s spot on.

I’ve noticed small outages and higher than normal pings the past few days, nothing that would normally cause major problems but they’re noticeable when gaming.

Specifically 6.30pm and 12am on this graph. I have also noticed the yellow spikes are getting more frequent and higher over the past few weeks. This is pretty much how the over port capacity started a few months ago, I know Liam said that their ports are not utilised fully yet, but I’m just reporting what I’m seeing.

Hopefully it’s something and nothing and will resolve itself in a few days.

I have seen small amounts of packet loss while gaming last couple of nights. Low but there. May have started sooner but have been away so only been gaming again recently.

A little blip this morning but nothing noticeable.

Same blip around 6.30 again and busier yellow peaks than normal

Minor gaming packet loss again for me.

Definitely something unusual going on

Yeah, I haven’t seen this sort of stuff for a good while now so something going on somewhere. Luckily, it’s only very minor at the moment but these things have a habit of getting worse over time if left unabated.

Yeah they are in the process of upgrading their kit with CityFibre

As you can see, evening is just tricky, and consistently so.

We haven’t yet got the data from CityFibre regarding any works taking place this week.

Anything we get through this week be shared and work would be expected in about 2 weeks

Edit: Just checked and definitely some good traffic tonight but not even 55% utilisation on the ENNI :slightly_smiling_face:

Again, in game packet loss 1-5% tonight. Seems to be every night now. Shame.

Am i missing something with all this?

My ping graph looks the same when I am using my connection. If I am at work all the yellow spikes is gone and its just green.

Other than that things are fine. Games play fine, no lag spikes, no slow downloads etc all is good even with the yellow spikes.

Ill admit thats a lot more spikes than normal for me, Usually when i am not home or in bed its just green but not today :frowning:

Are you using the Yayzi router or your own? If it’s the Yayzi then it’s unusual, some routers can cause this however.

Na PFSense server.

Things have been fine with my connection. Ive not noticed any issues its just the graph that looks wonky.

Looking back it seems to have started around 1am on the 4th September.

I might reboot my proxmox box and see if that sorts it.
