Nightmare move from Giganet to Yayzi

I was due to move from Giganet to Yayzi today - infrastructure was already in place, should have been a simple ONT swap but several hours later, I have no internet. The Service light is on but nothing.

Tried messaging through WhatsApp but replies are incredibly slow - any ideas Support/anyone else?

Not that the community can do anything with this info, but I’d remove the order number

Thank you @WhyAydan @L0rdVerga - day 2 of no internet and 3 bored kids! Any update @Yayzi_Team please?

Can you DM me

So it turns out that the shipped router didn’t have the correct settings (VLAN 911?) and I managed to update it via the Aginet App and I’m now online albeit at approx 700Mbps.

It would also appear that Google WiFi Pro is not compatible with VLAN 911 - am I correct? I did plug an ethernet cable from the supplied TP Link EX820v to the Google WiFi Pro but it’s capped at 1000Mbps so I’d not be able to take advantage of the full 2Gbps service I signed up for?

The EX820v support 2.5Gbps on the WAN and one LAN Port.
Your Google Wifi Pro is limited to 1Gbps for WAN/LAN. not a multi-gig device

You say your are online at 700mbps? Wifi or wired? Connected Device?

Ah thanks @quackers. If my understanding is correct:

  1. I can’t replace the TP-Link Router with the Google Wifi Pro because it doesn’t support VLAN 911
  2. If I connect an ethernet cable between the two, it’s capped at 1Gbps regardless of whether I plug it into the single 2.5Gbps port because Google is capped at 1Gbps…

I was connected via Wifi testing using an iPhone 13…

Correction - the router is the EX820v and I’ve just noticed that it comes with a Cat 5e cable. I’ve read up that it’s capped at 1000Mbps? In any case, I had a spare Cat 8 cable and I’ve connected the ONT and TP Link router using this instead - still getting 700Mbps :smiling_face_with_tear:

CAT5e can do up to 5gbps for very short runs, the cable is not the issue

Thanks @L0rdVerga. Giganet are still looking into it but my ISP is showing as Yayzi. Completely baffled by all of this and Yayzi Support are nowhere in sight. Had it not been for the community, I’d not have gotten anywhere :man_shrugging:

this sounds about right. You will not get the max speeds over WIFI as WIFI technology is too slow to get the full speeds. That’s normal (at the moment). You can only get the full speeds over the cable if you you connect your computer with a network cable to Lan port1 on the router (this is the only port that supports 2.5Gbps).

I have the same results on my phone over WIFI, but my computer over cable can get to around 2.3Gbps.

Depending how much in the ecosystem you are, you’ll either need to ditch the google wifi and get a UCG Max and a WiFi 6E or 7 access point to replace it, or use the Yayzi supplied router

I only recommend the Unifi as it’s what I personally use and it’s 2.5Gbe through and through on the UCG Max

Cloud Gateway Max 2TB - Ubiquiti Store United Kingdom

Thank you everyone for your support - I really appreciate you guys stepping in.

I’m leaning towards the TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro AXE5400 to replace the modem/router provided by Yayzi and to replace the Google Wifi Pro (not so glitzy afterall!) system. Would this do the trick?

I did look into the Unifi system but it seems pretty heavy for domestic use although very scalable - am I missing something?

The one big omisssion fom the XE75 Pro in my mind is that it only has a single 2.5Gb RJ45 port, which will be used to connect to your ONT - the other two ports on it are only 1Gb. This means that if you want to connect something wired for faster speeds than 1Gb you can’t, and you have to rely 100% on Wifi for achieving > 1Gb speeds, which can be difficult if you only have a single XE75 Pro (i.e. not a mesh) which you can be close to.

iPhone 13 connects on WiFi 6 (ax) at a Max 1200Mbps
If your are getting around 700Mbps to your phone, seems not to shabby.

WiFi 7 (be) is new, more Wifi Routers and Mesh systems are coming on stream. Wifi 7 phones will start showing up this year.

It all comes down to your use case?

  • Number of devices,
  • any need for VLans?
  • wired 2.5Gb Lan Devices
  • Do you need multiple Access Points, Mesh?

Personally I would skip 6E and go to WiFi 7.

TP-Link Deco BE65 (WiFi 7) has 4 x 2.5Gb ports and can work in a Mesh also has a basic VLAN for IoT devices.

Thanks @mikekilley @quackers. To answer some of your questions:

  1. Devices = Up to 20 maximum (mostly laptops, ipads, mobiles etc.)
  2. I have no idea what a VLAN is so not in the foreseeable future
  3. 0 wired devices
  4. Yes, we need a Mesh to address the patchy coverage throughout the house

That being said, I’ve gone with your recommendation and just bought the 3 pack TP-Link Deco BE65. Now back to the migration from Giganet and bumping up the speed @Yayzi_Team

Once again, thank you all for your help in getting set up!

VLAN : Virtual Network

Basically used segregate traffic. For Example : Work, IoT devices, Kids.

Hope everything gets sorted with the connection. Also let us know how you get on with your new router.

Will be a good system, If you don’t know what a VLAN is, you don’t need it

They are helpful if you want to segregate off a device to stop it “calling home” like a baby monitor for example, or having a device you want to be on a separate network, like a NAS hosting public services.
