Still being tested, we have pockets working without causing any issues, so slowly rolling it out as soon as the devs are happy.
2-weeks maybe, or a fortnight?
Is there any target date?
also any what /48 or /56 network to the user?
and new IPv6 ranges ?
the 2 existing IPv6 networks still mot showing as UK.
Genuine question. Is there a benefit to IPv6 over IPv4? I thought it was just because there was a shortage of IPv4 addresses.
If you have to ask then you don’t need it
I don’t need it? I never said I needed it nor have I ever requested it. It was a genuine question out of curiosity.
If you like to look at the Google search under “advantages of IPv6 over IPv4”, you find your questions answered. (Without funny comments)
In breif; IPv4 (a.b.c.d) addresses are running out and getting more expensive because of that. The hyperscsle datacenters (Azure, AWS etc) consume a load. More and more technologies are being deployed to extend how long we have until actual exhaustion (most recently, CGNAT). These technologies limit functionally available in IPv4.
Some benefits come from improvements in functionally built into the IPv6 protocol, but the most significant (imo) is just every decice having its own routable address.
Its a shame, and quite short sighted, for Yayzi to deploy IPv6 and then almost immediately remove it for their migration. But, onwards an upwards.
A clear timeline would be nice, but it not being available is unlikely to be problematic for most users.
Any updates? It’s been nearly 2 weeks
Apparently it’s going to be another 2weeks
I’m going to make a guess that it will probably NEVER come to fruition at Yayzi!
@Yayzi_Team : Any updates?
