Would there be any chance you could look into offering Signal (https://signal.org) as a Contact Channel?

They already don’t reply on Whatsapp - is Signal going to make a difference? May as well be Telegram, that’s just as good as you don’t loose it all if you forget to back it up, or link the chats to a PC
They reply on Whatsapp just fine for me, every single time including at stupid times at night.
Me and you have had different experiences then 
I’m really sorry if we’ve not replied to you on WhatsApp, it’s quite a busy contact method so sometimes we do miss things

Nah, it’s alright. This was months ago when I think you were being swamped, emails have always been fine. Things may have changed in the last few months
