Chat about Network Migration, Issues and Speeds

We are aware that some customers are experiencing higher-than-usual ping times. This is a temporary issue directly related to our ongoing migration process. Our team is closely monitoring the situation and working to minimise any impact on your service.

Key points:

  • This is a known, temporary issue affecting some customers.
  • It is directly linked to our system migration.
  • Our technical team is actively working to reduce the impact.

We expect ping times to return to normal once the migration is complete. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.

If you have any urgent concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our support team.

Updates on our progress will be shared through our official channels. Thank you for your continued support.

TLDR We are aware of this and it’s due to the migration, this will be resolved once the migration is complete

Hi, Frostie

Yes, until the migration is done completely the latency be higher unfortunately, It should only be for a day longer now at this point, The team worked tirelessly last night to get the low speeds sorted, Which has now gone to what could be considered a reasonable speed of 100 x 100 for the time being

In my experience on the new network, the latency didn’t actually go down, But it did for some people, even if it was just 1 or 2 ms.

There will be optimisation done to the network after the migration too, Which should ensure that the spikes Do not return for now and forever

Yeah, but that means swapping out a house full of Google & Android stuff for Apple stuff

Well, that’s only because what I personally use I haven’t tested whether Google home can work locally but I’m sure it can just again without the voice stuff

I do have my switches and plugs set up in Google home so I will give it a go

Equally home assistant will work just as well

The advantage of Google home is just it runs off a smart speaker

You warned about latency and slower speeds, saying around 250 Mbps…but it’s getting slower and slower? I work from home, have Teams meetings all day long, and this is getting a little bit irksome. Last check I’ve slowed up to around 35 Meg with a latency of 58 ms. How much longer guys? Will we get some recompense?

Beat this!

Ouch!

I think you could deliver the packets using your keyboard quicker than that

sigh

Looks like the migrations have started again.

If the internet externally is down connect to the connection and select use as is this will allow your switches and cameras etc to operate as they should . Mine did anyway

Speeds will be back to full capacity before the weekend. This is temporary while the last migrations are being done. These will be completed tomorrow, and static IPs will be assigned to users as well.

There is no sugarcoating this. No these speeds are not what we wanted, or expected during the migration window, but capacity is reduced while this is ongoing.

Sorry guys.

I appreciate there are issues with speed due to the migrations and it is important the priority is that those issues get fixed. We can argue over whose fault it is once it is fixed. However, once everything is settled and investigations concluded, there should be a transparent, warts and all post from Yayzi advising what went wrong, what lessons have been learned and what is being done to prevent such issues ever occurring again - not just vague promises that it won’t happen again. Additionally, there should be some discussion and thought to appropriate levels of compensation (even if it is credit on the next bill) for the days / times that the service hasn’t met promised levels of service especially when the web page still states a 700Mb+ speed guarantee.

My Internet has been pretty much unusable for the past 3 days, my current speed is 3mb/s. I was expecting this to be resolved tomorrow on the 11th as previously stated, which is what I told my partner who is having to make a long, costly and usually unnecessary commute into work rather than work at home. Now I have to tell her this could continue until the weekend which will go down like a lead balloon.

Wait, you said the speeds would be back to normal by tomorrow now you’re saying before the weekend?

Simple fix, that I know is going to cost you a bit… Lyca eSIM, will be setup in minutes and hotspot off your phone, 100GB for £10

Just turn off auto renew and you won’t be charged again, they use EE so it’s plenty fast, 100mb/s +

Use a virtual debit card too that you can cancel, to be extra safe

Have to echo the frustrations about the weekend comment. You said by the 11th. Not entirely happy with how this migration has been handled and the UX, which is a shame because until now all has been perfect.

Latency gone down the pan since around 4pm, packet loss happening too, roll on Thursday, just confirming all this migration stuff ends at midnight tomorrow night?

So far, over on Discord, they’ve confirmed that they’re on schedule.

Everything started to slow down again around 4.30pm today when the migrations began again.

The 40gb plan is 8p per gb. The 80gb is 9.3p per gb and the 100gb plan is 10p per gb.

It’s completely backwards!

Yep… If you remember we heard earlier how they had worked all last night to fix the ultra slow speed (sub 10) and ‘fixed it’… Obviously what they actually did was wait until the mornign when lower demand allowed internet speeds to go back up to 30-40. Now its peak again and we are down to sub 10… Im expecting it will be like this tomorrow and maybe Thurs…
