I would doubt a .Net update would cause speed issues mate.
Maybe just a coincidence unless its causing an issue with the speedtest app itself.
I’ve noticed over several days my Ping is higher than it used to be. Used to average around 5-7ms - now it is consistently 13mS
Is it pinging the exact same server as it was previously?
So this is just likely to do with our routing/peering - taking a different route.
While the location chosen may be closer to you “physically” - it may not be routing wise.
And over wireless too! 8ms is pretty good. Id say with a wired connection you’ll get that down to 5-6ms
Hi,
Any update on this as the speed still isn’t anywhere near what I expect let alone the guarantee on your website?
Happy to open a support ticket if it will offer a quicker response and resolution.
Just checking QoS isn’t turned on is it?
Hi WhyAydan,
Connection from ONT is going straight into a PC - no router involved so pretty certain no QoS unless you can advise somewhere else I can check.
Ah okay, no their shouldn’t be.
Could you also try https://proof.ovh.net/ for me?
Yeah im betting speedtest is the issue. Maybe try downloading speedtest app and see if that shows anything different.
Ok - thanks for this site info- I’ll check that site regularly - most downloads I try max out at 50MB/sec (400Mbit/sec) so I’ll have to see if I can find a site with enough bandwidth to ensure their connection isn’t a limiting factor - otherwise it wouldn’t make sense that ovh can say 675+ yet, in reality, 400 is the best I can get.
Hi @WhyAydan @Yayzi_Team ,
I’ve been having problems since I switched to Yayzi on 11Dec. I have opened a case on My Yayzi portal. My problem has not been solved. Finally I told them I’ll leave the Yayzi within cooling period (even though I have rolling contract and I can leave anytime I want), Liam responded on 20Dec and he said “ This is being look at as a matter of urgency by our network team”. My speeds are always under the guaranteed limit (Ethernet wired setup). My contract with Virgin finishes in a couple of days and this problems stresses me out.
Additionally, All research results are still in USD etc. This also affects that I cannot open the important websites or applications on my phone. Even Marriott hotels, Radisson SAS does not open. I have uploaded every screenshots and speed test results from different sources.
At this point, what do you recommend me? It’s been a very long time and obviously I don’t get what I pay for. I have always followed the proper way and I raised case through Yayzi portal instead of bombarding them with emails.
Ps: for speed tests, I used different routers, different laptops. All routers in my home have gigabit ports. Connections to router are with CAT8 cable.
Testing speed again after my my move back to Static. All are WIRED.
Summary : 900 Plus :
Wired at the Desk - 900/900 on average 7 -8 ms latency
ONT 801G —Alta R10 — ProMax 16 - Mac (1GB Ethernet)
So far seems ok, results are …
clouldflare speed test https://speed.cloudflare.com.
Speedtest Mac APP and iperf3 direct from the router
Nperf
the raw speed on speed test and nperf are similar, cloudflare is probably the more real of real day to performance. Most traffic is short bursts of data downloaded, web pages, streaming, etc. vs large files being downloaded.
*Be interesting to see WIRED Cloudflare and nperf tests from those having speed issues post migration.
1.2 Pro here - speeds fluctuate - currently not too bad, but that changes. Average has been 900 both directions.
nperf test result post migration.
Cloudflare wired post migration
However, I still have the issue that all searches default to US sites such as Amazon.com, Walmart, Target etc. and Youtube tries to get me to watch NFL.
@Traveller - I feel your pain - I’ve had to re-sign up to Plusnet for another year to have a backup connection due to all the issues I’ve been experiencing in December with Yayzi seemingly moving everything at the same time rather than a phased approach.
@cbhatt Thanks m8. Do you think moving to static IP may resolve the problems? I’ll await the response from Yayzi but I think nice clean Static IP may solve the issues. I’m not sure though. I’m desperate at this stage.
Sorry but not sure - I’m waiting for confirmation if I have a static IP (and what it is) so I can host my Exchange server. Not sure if a static IP will fix the problem as I don’t know enough about why I’m getting US results when doing default searches - currently on a 213.18 address so hopefully someone more informed than I can advise if that is why I am getting this issue.
Ultimately only you can make the decision - are you happy with what Virgin provide? There must be a reason why you chose to switch? Can you live without that reason? Fortunately, you’re on a rolling contract so you can leave with minimal notice. If it was me and I was happy with what I had with Virgin and didn’t need to do too much reconfiguring of my setup then I’d probably drop Yayzi, renew with Virgin and use the new contract length time with Virgin to research your future provider.
