Connected at last, ping times are a huge disappointment though

Did pop an email over this morning. Had a huge spike today with some packet loss.

Is this something CityFibre has acknowledged?

Not sure what changed but I’m liking the downward trend

Technically just a return to ping times from ~1 month ago...

Strange slight increase in ping - #5 by nexusmaniac

It’s a new sales tactic, increase everyone’s pings and add a little packet loss to it, then a few months later reverse it and everyone thinks there’s an improvement! Love it…

Only joking, I’d take that improvement right now. I’m guessing you got migrated.

Also saw a drop in ping at ~12.30am, I wonder what changed.

Damn, had a couple of OK evenings so was getting hopeful but it’s taken a dive tonight but started a lot earlier than normal:

Nothing going through, as you can see, but ping times have gone from 5 to 30ms:

Cheers.

Just a quick heads-up that you will notice a slight increase in your ping times :hourglass_flowing_sand: over the next little while.

Yayzi are in the process of moving over the ENNIs (External Network-to-Network Interfaces) to the new core network setup, which means the old core is running with a bit less capacity for now :construction:.

Don’t worry though—this is only temporary, and once everything’s moved over, things should be running smoother than ever :rocket:.
Yayzi are working hard to get it all sorted as quickly as possible!

I understand how frustrating this is but please rest assured once you have been migrated over you will see a huge improvement all round.

How long is a little while? Hours, days, weeks?

Ping increases are a little more than slight.

Given how many customers Yayzi have, they’re going to be doing 1,000 per week, at 200 customers a day I would say it will take a few weeks

As per Verga, it would depend when you get migrated. But i would estimate 2 - 3 weeks. I can’t give you an exact time.

We will try and get this completed as soon as we can. I can assure you off that, and you will see immediate improvements when completed :slightly_smiling_face:

You saying it’s going to be like this for weeks?!

Not great.

Yep things have gone down hill this evening & considering I’m a new ish subscriber & will be one of the last people to be migrated this is rather depressing.

We’ve actually been looking at ways to speed up the migration, rather than having to rely on CityFibre migration speeds.

But at the moment we will continue with the migration in the batches while still exploring this other option at the same time.

Is the hugely increased ping something thats the result of a decision youve made. Its a huge deterioration esp as I use cloud gaming. Having this for weeks is not really unacceptable. Could you have made a different decision?

Easy answer to this is no. Unfortunately it’s not how the migration can work.

Edit: We are as I said exploring options to speed this up without having to use CityFibre for the migration, we’re testing this method currently, alongside the migrations.

Could be worse see mine and it’s been like this for a week

Ping porn.

Somehow I don’t think migration is fixing that! It looks like something else is going on there to me.

I agree with Craig here, certainly more going on and it’s with both our network team and CityFibre

Like I said on the discord, it looks like dust or something is wrong with the fibre.
