Latency Doubled since recent Outage

Just want to report that since the CF outage the other day, my latency has doubled. Anyone else?

Mine doubled from an average of 2-3ms to 6ms or so at bang on midnight last night and hasn’t come down since. Not that it’s gonna be noticeable but yeah, mine has doubled.

Probably worthwhile both of you dropping an email to [email protected] :eyes:

Not noticed an increase in latency myself (currently averaging 4-5ms) so it could be specific to your connection(s)

Strange, back to how it was before now! Patience is the key…!

I’ve noticed my YouTube Playback quality Has gone back to how it was before the whole migration over December last year.

Videos start playing in 240p - it’s getting seriously annoying. The issue completely went away post migration - but from Tuesday it’s been happening every day since :pensive:

Hoping it sorts itself :crossed_fingers: if not I’ll have to raise a ticket

Latency returned to the usual rubbish 15ms just before midnight last night after being around 5ms for the past few weeks, disappointing.

Same here, just before midnight last night.

I’m curious of what the situation for us will be like after the CF planned maintenance in WsM on 28th March…

Didn’t realise there was any maintenance planned from this area.

Not sure if I’m over analysing it but i had the same issue with latency last week. Went from 2ms to 10-15ms to Google etc.

Checked today and my area has seemingly gone from gpon to xpon, as the yayzi services tab now shows my current package as 2000mbs dl 1000mbps ul with an option to change it to 2300mbps dl 2300mbps ul. I have checked other isps and they are also seemingly offering this, so hopefully it isn’t just a glitch on the portal.

I have created a customer service ticket to get my package changed. - Not sure if doing it on the portal would impact anything with my 18 month term.

The last couple days it went back to the standard 2ms ping times.

Now I’m hoping i can get by without having to have a new ont installed (only joined city fiber in November but assume it’s not sufficient)

All the best

I had the same issue, my area had upgraded to XGS PON…so upgraded the service and the ping has returned to 2ms to London as it was before.

CF dont seem to care about high pings. Had lengthy conversations with Yayzi and CF about it. Pretty poor that they allow a service to degrade and just say well it’s not that bad so lump it.

Ah yeah. I am also now able to get 2.3Gb so looks like our area was upgraded too.,

I’m guessing (hoping) that this is what all the planned CF maintenances are doing - upgrading each area to XGS-PON. In which case I’ve only got 10 days to wait…

I hope that too. After contacting support, I didn’t receive any answer about that. Nor did I get an answer why Yayzi is no longer in the offer of CF in my area. Seems strange to me.

I was thinking the same. I’m due Friday :crossed_fingers:t2:

my upgrade is tomorrow

my one was done today they didn’t have a clue it was a swap they came to do a new install 2 vans but got there in the end after the ont swap no internet my wife told them to needed to call the fibre exchange after that phone call line was up and running getting full speed my ping is now 1.78 use to be 4-5ms

So City Fibre were due to replace my ONT today. They turned up at 9:30 and after having to explain why I need the ONT changed (to support XGS-PON) they have changed my Calix 1000G to a Calix 1007X. However they are waiting for it to be activated by City Fibre. Any idea’s how long that’ll take as i’m having to tether my phone at the moment.

They left and said they’d be back in 30-60mins and it should be up but still waiting for both them to return and for it to work :-(.

Seems like it might not be related - phew lol
