No usable internet since Wednesday

I got to admit If I have made a mistake transferring from my old isp on Tuesday I have had barely a functioning speed and now no internet connection and my frustration is starting to kick in

It depends, did you transfer from Virgin Media? I Did and even with the downtime, I’m still looking at upgrading to the 2.5gb connection  they’re a great team here @Yayzi_Team and have put up with me being impatient.

I have moved over from zen I was lured by the 2gig up 1gig down for £50

Drop us an email to [email protected]

I did at 12:30 it was working with 1gig up and down then it just disconnected and now no ip

@Yayzi_Team I emailed support (again) several hours ago, no response. I still have no internet, what’s happening? As things stand, I’m going to be using the last of my mobile data hunting for a new provider over the weekend!!!

Same Martin, i received 1 email telling me not to reboot router as it will lose its place in queue for ip refresh and that’s it. I will also be looking at a new provider when back connected, this is not on !

At no point have I been told not to reboot anything; I have been rebooting it once every few hours to see if it would pick up a new IP!!

Hi Dean,

Thanks for your message

If you have rebooted your router please DO NOT do it again as the IP addresses are taking an hours to be assigned due to demand, every time you reboot the router it puts your request to back of the queue, similar to being on a telephone in a one hour queue, if you hang up and try again you can go from next in line to 1 hour wait

Thanks

Martin

Im assuming its the same for all of us?

It is unfortunately.

We’re currently working on a fix for this, please bear with us - we won’t be going anywhere until its resolved.

So you promise none of you will be going to sleep tonight till its fixed. No internet like this for 24hrs is not good. Especially after a week of 2mb/s internet.

Mine has come back on I’m just waiting for my 2gig download speed currently at 1gig but happy to be back online

We’ve all been up past 4am and then back in at 7am to get this all resolved, we know how important it is for everyone to get their connection back.

@Yayzi_Team this isn’t true at all.

That explanation doesn’t quite align with how DHCP typically functions.

IP address provisioning through DHCP is generally near-instantaneous, even under heavy load, because it uses a straightforward lease mechanism. Waiting an hour for DHCP to assign an IP address suggests there might be an issue with the DHCP server, network configuration, or possibly high contention for IP addresses in a limited pool.

While this is a recurring issue, it might be worth investigating the DHCP server logs and network setup further to identify the root cause.

Rebooting a router usually doesn’t reset its place in a queue—DHCP doesn’t operate like a phone line system.

The only positive from still not having an internet connection is being able to cut short those hour long whatsapp daily evening video calls to my mum in France to 10 minutes, due to poor mobile network. 50 less minutes of whingeing is good for the soul. However, please try to restore my internet tonight, I won’t tell my mum it’s back on for at least a week.

I think they mean the lease time is getting reset back to the start so its not expiring.
