Suppose each manager is different then, although not really needed to talk to them lol
Thanks
Use this tool for legit every digram and mind map!
Im betting Juniper tbh. But could be on the wrong end of the table! Might have gone with none of the mentioned and gone for something VyOS (New Vyatta) based
Cisco ASR-9006-AC-V2 to be exact
Weāve got peering with LINX and LONAP, and quite a few others now (always adding more almost every week). Transit with GTT, NTT and Cogent, will be adding more in the coming months.
SLA with CityFibre is end of next working day
DAMN IT, you win @anon96327173!
Yeah thought it would be LINX, major provider tbh. Cogent i thought was quite pricey no? HE is a good option if you havenāt already got them on your list
Wonder when youāll get a Netflix Openconnect Box
Cogent is pricey, but theyāre great!
HE weāre in talks with currently, and other providers such as Zayo etcā¦
Always got to be on it!
Weāve been thinking about the netflix box. Not really explored much into it, yet!
Think you need a fair amount of traffic to Netflix to get it I think.
Very clever bit of kit tbh, they give it for free (I think) then you pay the power bill so to speak. Then they simply load the latest series/movies and various other stuff to it daily.
Very nice looking as well!
Eventually you probs wont even hit them, most would go over the peers which is the idea no?
Still being done
Very nice! And thatās exactly right. Hand everything off to peering
It is unfortunately massively different on the residential sideā¦ Annual price rises every April - Offshore support that just ask you to reboot your router and god forbid you use their router in modem modeā¦ oh, YOUR EQUIPMENT is the issue then
If I ever go back to virgin - which I highly doubt, Iāll go their business line, just for the extra supportā¦ when I need it, but I do not plan on ever leaving Yayzi on CF
Do netflix pay you to be part of their CDN?
No they donāt pay, as they in theory are reducing their cost as instead of paying to send the traffic via 3rd Party peers they just send it to a ālocalā peer so to speak. Which in turn makes it just a bit faster as less hops.
Iām not to sure tbh, but i did see an ISP in telehouse (at my old job) have some Netflix Open connect boxes. Wasnāt allowed to take photos unfortunately. Telehouse is very big so it wouldnāt surprise me, I went to Telehouse North I think.
Equipment is always the issue no, never Virgin
Iām never so fundamental. For me Virgin was always top 1, but there is no point to stay with anybody if they start falling behind. Competition is good for people. Virgin needs to catch up a bit to start competing again.
Having said that, there is something about Yayzi that I like. Itās 3 things:
- My impression is that Yayzi wants to be cut edge in technology. For months itās the only company that offers speeds higher than 1Gbps. IPv6, Sim cards with Three (They have the best 5g Covereage with EE(?)).
- Support when needed stayed in touch with me.
- Prices are a little bit extra, but I can accept it.
If Yayzi will keep up the good work in these 3 fields then they may become a major player amongst the others.
They donāt have IPv6 yet do they?
I think they started already testing them out with some users (in other threads)
I canāt really comment on 1. As Iām in the Beta (this isnāt the beta section) however theyāre doing well in all I can say
IPv6 will come, but probably not without issues. I know Minecraft in particular may be an issue as it doesnāt support ipv6 connections from what Iāve googled a few months ago. This may have changed
Depends on the backend server its hosted on.
For example I use PurpurMC which has IPv6 already
Just need to put the IPv6 in the Server IP or do ::
