@Yayzi_Team please see the picture below. This is what it looks at the back of my ONT.
Thansk for that, that is a 1Gb ONT - To looks like the engineers have installed the wrong one, drop me a DM here with your full name and address
Hi, It seems I canât find the way to direct message you. Could you please find my information from your system.
Removed name
Got it. weâll get an engineer sorted to fit the correct ONT
I hope mine isnât a 1gb ONT box as only got installed today and not had time to setup router. I paid/got the 2.5gb broadband so god knows why they would install 1gb ONT
On my install I nearly fell foul of the âWe always install this ONTâ thing; they installed a 1Gig ONT (which fortunately wouldnât sync) and then said âWe always install this one, your job sheet says we need to install a different type that isnât meant to be used in your area and we didnât look, but weâll go and get one now and install it beacuse thatâs what the job sheet saysâ et voila, it worked. (Weird, that!)
Sometimes you just canât fix employees (CF, in this case) operating on autopilot!
I did ask the installer when they turned up to install and assured me that it was indeed the 2.5gb one. I highly doubt it is though was it easy enough to remove from wall to check?
When the installers turned up at mine they were a little surprised to find that they had no cabling to do, weâd been with another City Fibre provider for the last year and half and were just switching over. But⌠they didnât have the 2.5Gig ONT on their van. And none of the installers within a ~50 mile radius had one either. So they had to just sit in their van all morning until someone from Swindon (50+ miles by road) could deliver it⌠In time, theyâll be more prepared hopefully.
Just a gentle tug upward (ahem) and it should come off - be careful of the fibre side, though, theyâre (relatively!) fragile and if yours is like mine thereâs very little free cable.
Ok I will install router tomorrow and try wired connection. Dont really feel comfortable pulling it off wall
Itâs literally just sitting on two screws and slides up, its very easy. Not sure what the Newcastle side got if thats where you are, but Washington is getting Nokiaâs by the look of it, 10Gb capable, but im not getting more than 1Gb even though its syncing at 2.5Gb to the ONT.
I will have a try tomorrow
Weâve been slowly working through upgrading existing customers to the 1.2Gbps line profile. I believe yours is supposed to happen over night, so you may get a dropout for a couple hours, but then you should be able to get 1.2Gbps
If I get a ONT (2.5Gb) device and connect with the optical fiber cable, will it work or the new device needs to be configured and authenticated by CityFiber?
It has to be changed by CityFibre and the ONT provisioned on their end
@Yayzi_Team how long is the waiting time to change my ONT? and till then why should I pay for 2Gig line while getting actually 1Gig ?
Weâve raised it with CityFibre as a fault, so you can expect someone out on Monday and obviously you wonât be charged for 2Gig line when youâre not getting that right now.
Our accounts team would amend that for you.
Do the 1.2gb get a free upgrade to 2.5?
Just pulled greater than gigabit speedtest
@Yayzi_Team , just wanted to update you. nobody from CityFiber turnned up at my doorstep today!
