XGS-PON Upgrades

Would be good to know if this upgrade option will be available up in Scotland.

I understand the want for XGSPON, but it really doesn’t add that much to your always existing bomb connection

It adds a lot if you’re a user of off-site storage, or transfer a lot of large files / databases as part of your work - in which case a potential doubling of upload speeds would be very much welcome. Both of which are certainly the case with me. It’s not all about the download speeds.

Yeah, that makes sense

I guess I’m just still getting used to going from 54 Mb up on Virgin Media to 900 mega up on Yayzi!

Forget about XGS-PON, Cityfibre need 50G-PON to remain competitive

My mother lives just outside of Peterborough in a village called Turves. They just got CF installed in the street and 2.5gbps up/down is available there… in the middle of nowhere but I cant get it in the center of the city. lol

It makes sense in a way as it will be more up to date equipment that’s been used for the install in the area but still stings a little.

My mother was having a good giggle over being able to get faster internet than me after being stuck on 35Mbps FTTC/VDSL2

Rude…

Have yayzi altered their site, I just checked other house numbers on my postcode & now it shows an upto 2.5 gig pro package to select, when I signed up just over 2 weeks ago that wasn’t showing for my posted but a 2gig pro package instead.

Edit : Looks like my area has been upgraded since I ordered the 2gig pro package, nice surprise that

Data is pulled direct from CityFibre, so will constantly update as their data gets updated.

yes it looks like my area has upgraded since I placed an order for the 2gig pro package a couple of weeks ago, I read it’s an automatic upgrade to the 2.5gig pro so I’m assuming I don’t need to contact support?

Its not automated yet, but you can upgrade across within package and at the same price point. So just drop us a message to [email protected] with your full name or account number and we will see if we can get that switched over for you.

Can I ask what area you are in?

I’m in Weston-Super-Mare, North Somerset

Hmm, small world - same here (Weston Village).

It doesn’t feel like much is happening.

They are slow :pensive:

I would love XGS

Wouldn’t we all?
I tried to find out, when it will be in my area. (northern Peterborough)
Can’t get an answer from CF. So I tried to get an answer from the guys installing the house connections. They looked at me wide eyed and didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. Sad, very sad.
So just don’t give up hope…

The engineers don’t tend to know tbh. They just install the tech doesn’t mean they know the tech.

Yes, very true. However, we used to take pride in our work and always tried to keep up with the latest technology. Somehow, this doesn’t seem to be important any longer.

Wonder how long it takes after you ask for the free upgrade to the 2.5gig pro package, my request has been passed on to the network team.

I think @Yayzi_Team said that the address lookup on the main site gets availability direct from CF, so I’ve started to do weekly checks there using my neighbours house number. Still only coming up as 2Gig Pro though for the moment.
